Author: Are you a family in need? This year, lots of families are in need. Lots of people have lost their jobs and are finding it difficult to provide for their families this holiday season. Hard times are everywhere which is why a large number of needy families are seeking help. The sooner a family in need comes forward to find help, the more likely that family will find help in time for Christmas. Sadly, many families wait until it's too late to find help. If you are a family in need, consider applying for the Adopt a Family program either at the Salvation Army or local churches and nonprofit organizations that may have similar programs. There are lots of people who are willing to help families in need and they have the resources to help too. However, a lot of the time families in need do not come forward at the right time and potential sponsors cannot find information about them to sponsor and adopt them for Christmas.
Getting Help Now
It's never too early for a family in need to speak up and ask for help. You may have to wait a while to find someone who can help you but the longer you have before you really need help, the more likely it is that you are going to find someone to help you. Christmas is approaching and you need to ask for help as soon as you can. Don't wait. Find the help you need as soon as possible. There is no guarantee that anyone will find the help they need especially if you need help with something that requires a lot more resources than most people have. By speaking up and asking for help, you never know who may be listening.

We are a family in dire need. We have been living in South Jersey and struggling with seasonal employment. This year, we bounced around trying to find better places for our kids to go to school and year round jobs. this caused strife and my wife moved the kids back in with her mother. I am not welcomed at the house and there are no jobs during the winter. I have been homeless and living out of the car until I returned it this week. We are now separated and headed for divorce. I am devastated because I raised our 2 children for 8 yrs while my wife was in and out of school. We are in terrible financial troubles right now in addition to our marriage problems. There are so many needs but the immediate one would be for presents this Christmas. I dont know if I will have any money to buy them anything or where I will be. My son is 8yrs old and is a reading junkie who loves bakugan, maps, atlases, sodoku, etc My daughter is 6 and loves princesses and kitchens, castles, and unfortunately Justin Beiber. My wife needs some help too but any giftcards or gas cards would be helpful and appreciated. I would feel comforted knowing that they would receive something for Christmas. Hello,My name is April Dankworth and I live in Piqua Ohio. Me and my family are in desperate need of help this year. I am currently unemployed and my husband makes $9.00 per hour. We make just enough to pay our bills, but that leaves us no spending money for food and supplies. We do not get any food stamps or public help because of my husbands job. We have two children and get by eating by going to food pantries. I am thankful for the food pantries, but I would love to have food in my fridge and cabinets. It would be a blessing to see my kids go to the kitchen and find something to eat. My son is 10 years old and my daughter is 17 years old. My son loves football, his favorite team is Ohio State and the New Orleans Saints. He is in need of clothes. His size is 10-12 in pants and 10-12 in shirts. My daughter is a senior in high school this year and needs a job in order to get a car and insurance. She is planning on going to college after high school to become a nurse in pediatrics. Me and my husband would love gift cards for food, household supplies and gas. Me and my family understand that you cant always get what you want and that Christmas is not about presents, but it would be a blessing this year to see my family getting help this Christmas. Hello. I am the 36 year old terminall ill mother of 5 kids. I have stage III Congestive heart failure and am currently on the US donor list as of October 2011. I have five amazing kids, all of whom are special needs. Four of them are biological and one is adopted. They are all such adorable, sweet, loving and giving children. My 16 year old son has a terminal blood diease spherocytoisis, he has no spleen, a diaphragmatic hernia, and had 95% of his stomach removed. He has no immunity so spends a lot of time out of school and in and out of the hospital. Through it all he still has a smile on his face. Next is my adopted 17 year old son he has Aspergers and is the sweetest most caring kid you could ever met. His family was homeless for 5 years when I took him in and his father passed away his mother abused him. I have a 13 year old son also with terminal spherocytosis, he is awaiting a sleenectomy now, there is no current cure for the diease but removing the enlarged spleen does slow the affects of the blood. My fourth son is 10 years old, he has well has Aspergers and a severe learning disablity. then last but least out of all four boys, we have a precious little princess. She is 8 years old however developmentally she is 4 years old. She has Cerebral PAlsy, Autism, and mild mental retardation. she was born premature at 26 weeks weighing only 15 ounces. she is a amazing little flower in our gardern of wonderful. My husband is the only one who is employeed’ and recently his hours got cut from 45 hours aweek to 20 hours a week!! We are barely making it and are behind on every bill we have. I just don’t know what to do. Without some kind of miracle or blessing there will be no Santa for Xmas this year for us. My kids they are so amazing, they have had and continue to have so many battles in their lives. Yet they continue to be positive and still always manage to put a smile on my face. I would love to give them a XMAS. They really need so much. Warm clothes like sweats, and tolietires. Like toothbrushs, comb, shampoo, shaver, socks, etc.. they don’t ask for much. I am truly praying that we can find a Xmas Angel this year because with out some kind of miracle their just won’t be a christmas for our family. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hello there,my name is Jennifer & my husband’s name is Anton. We are a family in need desperatly! Over a year ago my husband lost his job,due to circumstances that were out of his control. He has been seaking work aggressivly all over the place and unfortunatly there has been nothing available for him. We are worried about how are rent will get paid, let alone to even think about Christmas I just break down & cry. My husband really struggles with this even more because of our son, who is a special needs child & 16 years old there is no help for him at all, his name is Cody. Then there is our daughter, Sophia 3 who has an understanding of Christmas this year and it saddens me that we won’t have any funds for gifts for either child, then to make matters worse our food stamps are being terminated in the month of December so there goes any hope of Christmas dinner and even stocking stuffers I was hoping to pick up for the kids. I pray all the time for help and hope there will be a break soon for us in our finacial situation. I my self am disabled and recieve a limited income for the month & my WHOLE check has to go twards back rent because we are $500 behind in rent. It seems hopeless at times but for our children there is still a glimmer of hope.

Hello, I am writing this in hopes of finding help for my brother and his family this holiday season. They have four childeren ranging in ages from 1yr old to 7yrs old. My brother and his wife recently lost both of there jobs and on top of that they just found out that there 3yr old is partially deaf in both ears, 60% right ear 70% percent left ear. They have been able to keep a roof over there head (barely) but after everything is paid there is nothing left, there is nothing at all to spare for the holidays. My name is Gina Leary and I am a single mother of a 13 year old boy. I am currently unemployed and attending college full-time @ Providence College. For the past three years I have volunteered at a nonprofit organization DARE as the Holiday Committee Chair, to ensure that needed families where I live “Providence RI” have what they need for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. Hello My name is Tiffany and I’m in desperate need for some christmas help for my 3 kids. We live in Eden Valley Mn. My husband got laid off of his job 4 months ago, I have been a stay at home mom for over 5 years now. We are both looking for work, just haven’t found anything yet. I have checked with Salvation army and Toys for tots to get help with christmas but they both say that the city I live in is not covered by them (which I think is just crazy) I have also called the churches who are the one’s that told me to check with salvation army. We get food stamps and some cash benefits but the cash portion hardley covers our bills. We literally have no extra money and I have no idea what we are going to do about Christmas. Our kid’s are Hunter age 9, Cassidy age 7 and Robert age 5. They all still believe in Santa and I don’t want them waking up christmas morning with nothing from Santa and thinking that they have just been to bad this year. Because they haven’t they have been really great kid’s. We can hardly afford to buy them gifts from us let alone santa. We would be happy and very grateful with anything or any way you may be able to help us. It breaks my heart the closer and closer it get’s to Christmas and I still have no clue what to do. Im a 36 yr old single Mom of a Wonderful 7 yr old boy. His Father has been gone for over a year now and has not payed child support in 8 months. It was a very abusive relationship that I had to get out of for my safety and my sons safety. We found a new home to rent, with hopes of a fresh start. Im proud of the fact I have provided for us and stayed fairly strong. Until now that is. I have had the same job for 7 yrs now and the pay is based on the amt of work available & amt I complete. We have our slow periods, but now is especially slow as our vendors are revamping their systems. So the past month my pay is literally 1/3 of normal. I’ve tried many resources, but seems no funds are available in most cases. (Busy time of year I guess) In the past month, my car needed repairs, my laptop needed repairs (which I need for work), our tv broke, I am 2 months behind on car pymts, I am 500 short for Dec rent and I have absolutely no way to give my son a decent Christmas. I’m tryin to stay strong for my son, but its hard. I have no family that is able to help, which is disheartening in a way since I have always helped them any way I could, but can’t fault them either. I guess my main concern is rent and gifts for my son. I just need to get through this hard time. I want to be smiling through the Holidays, not crying and worrying so much. My son has been through alot of change and he needs this as much, if not more, than I do. So if you can find it in your heart to help at all you would be granting a very much needed Christmas Wish. I am a single mother of three. I have twin girls who are going to be 13 on December 7th. Than I have a little boy who is ten. My little boy had to have surgery to get a plate put on the top of his right foot in August. Than in October he had to have a surgery to get a plate put on the top of his left foot. On December 9th he has to have a surgery to get his testicals stapled into his ballsack because they keep retracting inside of him. I also have been sick for years. I almost died four years ago. All three of my children had to tell me goodbye they really didn’t think I was going to make it. I luckly did they say I am a walking miracle. I taught my kids a different way of believing in Santa and that is that mom gives santa money to get christmas. They go to soup kitchens etc… So I am a single mom who recieves no child support and had surgery recently so I have no income at the moment. Hi my name is JoLene an I live in Council Bluffs iowa, I am a recently divorced an disabled single mom to four wonderful children, we have been so blessed to at least have each other so I feel guilty asking for help. I just got done telling my kids that there would mostly likely be no presents for Christmas this year becuase I have no money left after bills an the school told me on Monday to get a wish list together an then notified me yesterday that the family we were to be adopted by fell through. Of course my 5yr old boy said so I’m not going to get anything on my list but what about Santa? I said the reindeer were sick this year so Santa could only come if I sent him money for a plane ticket. My 6yr old boy said I wish christmas didn’t cost money. An I said me too but we can still celebrate Jesus’s birthday, while I watched my 12 yr old daughter cry in the other room, it broke my heart. My 3yr old son is visiting at his fathers an he will have Christmas presents there that he can’t bring home. I really don’t know what to do, after the talk with the others I came in my room an cried an then looked up credit cards but I don’t have the income to get one so I googled help for christmas an this is what I found so if there is anyone in southwest iowa or omaha nebraska area that can help me at least preserve the christmas magic of Santa, my kids love dancng and music an recently seen a Guitar Hero: Warriors of rock complete set with drums,guitar, an mic w game for Wii (I bought one for christmas yrs ago) at best buy for 139.00 that they really want other than that they just need jeans an long sleeve shirts an pajamas so gift cards to walmart or for the family dollar( we love their cheap 2&3 pc sets) or one we can use at any store wld be great my daughter has lots of clothes but really wants this pair of boots she seen at shoe carnival as she is the singer in the house! Its been a very hard year for my children as for me, my little sister ( bless her ) took my children in, she is too not in a very good situation, single mother of 2. I read many of the postings above mine. There are so many people having a hard time, some with extremly difficult situations to overcome. I pray that all of you in dispair will find what you need to make your lives better.
I am having hard times too and I have tried to keep my head above the bills but I am loseing ground fast. My hours were cut at my place of work months back and now I am at wits end and I don’t know where to turn. I’m not even concerned anymore with not having any gifts this christmas to give my kids or grandkids, we will survive not exchanging presents. We have our health and each other and that is truely whats important. I am behind on rent and my electric bill has grown so large. I have been paying both but with it being so cold my little electric heater runs continually just to keep it bearable and the cost for the last month was unreal. I guess the house in not insulated well and the heater is not adequate for solely heating this house.
I have tried and waited for things to turn around and now I have no idea where to turn. This is why I’m here at this site. Hopeing for a miracle. I hate that I had to write this, I hate that I’m having to ask for help, and I hate that I am going to push the submit button but this is where I’m at. I am in need as I recently had a Liver Transplant. I am not able to provide for a Christmas this year. my daughter 15 years old an is and outstanding student with a GPA of 4.37 in spite all. She nursed me back to health.. as I was hospitalized for two months now in recovery. Shania is deserving of a wonderful Christmas and I would like her to have one..Our wish list is primarily for myself Toshiba Thrive Tablet or gift cards and shania would like a Laptop or 360 xBox w/Kinect or Jcpenneys gift cards and of course food certificates are also welcomed as well.

I know this is a very last minute thing, but if there is someone willing to help me out this year for Christmas that would be amazing. I am a young mother who is struggling financially this year. I am a full time student and have given all I have to pay off my tuition this semester, so now I have really no money to buy my daughter just one simple gift. I was laid off from the postal service back in 2010 and collected unemployment for 2 years decided to go back to school for nursing but could not finish BC my unemployment ran out so now I am making min wage working part time while kids are in school and my fiance is only making 10 as an armed guard that is not enough to pay the bills had to let alot of bills go BC we just don’t have the money to pay everything. I’m a single mom of 2 wonderful girls , my oldest is 14 and my youngest is 8 and she is special needs. I’ve been unemployed for 9 months and I have posted at least 8-10 resumes a day on line. I get ver little in unemployment and that just civers the necessary bills. My unemployment is due to run out in a few week. I’m really in need of some help. I an a cancer, Crohn’s, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and liver disease survivor with four children living in the home. I live on a small disability check every month and I am only able to either pay the rent or the light bill, which has been extremely difficult. I have not been able to pay my Nov. rent oand I will not be able to pay my December rent because I must pay the light bill. My children will have no Christmas, if I cannot find someone to adopt our family. My children go without so much all year long, even without the most basic necessities, such as toilet paper, feminine products,clothing,cleaning supplies, and much more, including food. What makes my children so special, is that they take care of me with a smile on their face and their heads held high, and with so much love. They have gone through so much, they have gone without so much much, but yet they persevere through it all happy, loving, and giving selflessly. These children deserve Christmas because of who they are inside. They deserve so much that I have not been able to give them for the last 3 years. Please someone find it in your heart to give my children a Christmas that I cannot provide, which is so embarrasssing and humiliating for me to say. I feel like a total failure. Hello I am looking for help this Christmas for my family. We have had a rough year. We are a family of five and trying to get on our feet. We moved into my wife’s parents basement to try and get a head start. Her father has since been diagnosed with cancer and we find ourselves with less and less money as he (now being un-able to work) is running out of money. We have been trying to fill in financially where they are not able. It has not gone as hoped and I am scared I won’t be able to give my family the Christmas the need. We don’t need a lot cause my kids are 4, 5, & 6. They will be happy with what they get but getting it is a problem. If there is anyone that could help I would be very greatfull.

Happy Holidays to all!! My name is Crystaleigh I am a 31 year old mother and wife of a wonderful family of a 5 year old little boy Kayden and a 7 year old princess. We live in western mass area very close to the Connecticut border. To give you a little background about our family am 4 years into remission of cancer and suffer from fibromyalgia
. Because of my health situation I unfortunately live off disability. But please do think I am lazy I volunteer when ever my health permits at my children’s schools, girl scouts, and am on the school improvement council. My husband is a full time student and works as much as possible for 10.00 an hour as a line cook. He trys so hard it breaks my heart to see him so upset that he can not do more but I know that soon once he gets his BA degree in 2 years we finically much more secure, in our own house and be hopefully able to help another family like us. My beautiful daughter also suffers from severe Asthma I am not talking about a kid who uses an inhaler once a week but a little girl who is hospitalized at least five times a year get pneumonia at least 2 a winter and is scarred to play because of fear of not being able to breathe. Her lungs never fully devolved due to her being a preemie. But through all of this she is always smiling laughing ( although sadly that sometimes causes her an attack) but she is a great student and loves fashion, arts, and crafts. My Little Superhero is my 5 year old Kayden who thank the gods is happy and healthy he is the family ambassador as he try’s to say something kind to everyone and is always telling someone how nice pretty or great they are. So I from him I numerously been told I am the “best Mommy ever”. I really want to be but as it stands right now our family will be lucky to give him a action figure from “Santa” and my daughter a box of pastels she wants. I am not one to ask for anything but fuel assistance only gave $200 this year which is not even one month of heating and us living off 1700 a month total and our rent being 850 with no utility’s as you can see dos not leave any room for anything. My daughter desperately needs a warm jacket. I am very embarrassed to even ask but if anyone, family or group could help us we would be so appreciative. My family and I have been displaced by super storm sandy our home got flooded with 2 feet of water . We have not been able to find suitable housing as of yet . My husband is handicapped (although works everyday) he is awaiting insurance approval for a double hip replacement ) I have 3 children 17 boy , 11 girl and a boy 9 . We lost everything in 2 boys bedrooms a livingroom kitchen bathroom and laundry room . we are currently living in a camper on my neighbors lawn. With the holidays fast approaching and me dealing with with everything and no extra money ( as we have to eat out alot and it cost alot for propane for heat) I feel my kids are gonna be awefully disopointed at christmas .
