Nearer to Christmas, we will be posting about families that will need your help. If you would like to adopt a family, part of a family or even just one child, you can contact the family directly to make arrangements.
How does 'Adopt a Family Work' work?
Each family seeking help will have their children's wishlists along with ages and preferences. Wishlists are what the children/families need or want but you are not obligated to buy things from the list. Many adoptors choose their own gifts. All families appreciate any gifts they receive.
Looking to get adopted?
If your family need some Christmas assistance, you can post your situation and what you need here on this Blog. We don't guarantee that you will get adopted. Every year, some families get adopted but there are always some that do not. While we make every effort to get everyone who needs help adopted, we appreciate your understanding and patience. Please also know that adoptors can be anyone. They themselves may not be well off so, if you ask for help here, please appreciate anything your adoptors offer.
We have come across families in the past that only want certain things for Christmas and did not want other gifts. If you are looking for something specific, please specify so that potential adoptors are aware of your situation.

Hi, My name is Julia (34) and I am happily married. However I am disabled and can not work. My husband (38) took a pay-cut with his new job since he lost his past job. We have a King Charles Spaniel and a cat. We would like to be adopted for Christmas this year since we have little supportive family/friends. We would also be happy with Christmas cards. I did the salvation army adopt a family once before and I am happy to help but I would like to know the story of the family I am helping and a little bit more about the people then the salvation army provides so I can better serve the family. I have been saving up this year to do this so please let me know of families of 4-5 people that need adopting.

I use to live 4 hours from chicago but i know live in missouri, I am doing online classes for medical office administration and he works, I stay home with the children due to my 10 year old he has epilepsy adhd and a sleeping disorder and my 7 year old has asthma and my 4 year old is aniemic. I dont like the idea of putting them in daycare due to my oldest having all the problems he has, We can not afford anything for our children for chirstmas this year, we cant even come up with the money to pay our rent that is due saturday. My name is Rose. I came across this as I was looking for agencies that assist in helping out with toys for Christmas. I have no idea where this website is located. I am in Iowa. I have two small children. My daughter is 4 and my son is 5. I am struggling this year due to health issues. I have been very ill for about three months now. I was told that it is all related to my thyroid and after having an ultrasound done on Monday I was told I have a multinodule goiter which has a high chance of being malignant. I am getting a biopsy on the 29th. For the past several months I have been miss diagnosed and out of work due to my health. I am relying on childsupport to pay the rent (which is all it covers) and have no income aside from that. I am getting food assistance but thats it. Now that it is about to be Christmas, I am feeling strapped and have no idea how I am gonna come up with gifts for my children. Until my health is better I cant really get a job to increase my income. I have been trying to sell my personall items which I dont need to try and come up with money to get them things but have not had much luck. I am just looking for alittle lift. My name is Maria and I am married and have two children. I lost my job over the summer actually had to leave because my daughter gets very sick, she was recently diagnosed with asthma, but leading up to it I was constantly called out of work. As she gets bronchilitis which always ends up with pneumonia. She was put on a nebulizer which she has to take every for hours, two intervals one is steroids, because her lungs aren’t strong enough. (she was born a premi with water in her lungs and a multitude of problems for the next 3mths, then she was ok so we were shocked when all of this began happening, we thought we were finally in the clear) anyway the point is this whole situation made/makes it very hard for me to keep a job. So we live paycheck to paycheck. We were kicked out of our rental in march. We live with my mom while my husband works, he’s trying to get a second job but it’s been difficult. Although I am grateful to my mom, she also helps my sister and nephew a lot, who Iives here too. So as you can imagine my mom is tight on money too with so many back under her roof.
So just hoping you are still available to help, I see you had many responses.
My children are 4 & 8. Sizes 3t & 10 shoe size toddler 8 & boys 3. They both love Legos, angry birds, coloring, my son loves sketching, play-doh. My daughter is really into kitchen play-tea time. Also I’d like to see if we could get a good pair of thermals for my husband size L, he works outside so it would be a great help for him. He also has no winter coat. He’d prefer the thermals because he has a work coat which he wears everywhere else too because we can’t afford to buy him another. My son desperately needs a winter coat as he wears a fleece pull over and a lightweight jacket at the moment. As his “coat”. Both kids need snow boots and snowsuits.

Hello my name is Eunice and im 18yrs old. I live in Orange County California. Three weeks ago my mom got laid off and my dad has diabetes and can’t work. I am here to ask if anybody can adopt my family I do not care if I don’t get any gifts I just want my siblings to get a gift it’s the second year they will not be receiving gifts. Hello my name is Jennifer I live in Lincolnton NC I am married and I have 2 kids I have a 13 year old son that is currently in the hospital for trying to hurt himself because he said he gets made fun of at school because we can barely get the things we need let alone what all the other kids have.. he said he has no friends and is miserable I also have a 6 year old little girl that is soo excited for santa claus how can I tell her there isn’t going to be anything under the tree this year. I really don’t even know if we are going to have the extra to have a “christmas” dinner the only family we have is 600 miles away we moved here for hubbys job and I am thankful he has that because we have a home and power. I am a mother of 4 wonderful kids…a 4 year old son, a 2 year old son year(who turns 3 the day after Christmas!) & twins (a boy and a girl, who has a condition called Hypotonia which is severe muscle delay, she just learned to sit up on her own though) who are 1. See I feel so bad but I will have nothing for them I don’t want to see my family with nothing this year. My children are ages 18 to 11, they mean the world to me, I don’t want to see them frowning because I can’t get them nothing for Christmas.

My wife and I could really use the help. My wife can only work 8 days a month due to a back injury and i work but all my money goes to pay the bills. Right now we are behind on bills and are trying to catch up and we have 3 kids that we wont be able to buy anything for them for Christmas. Even though the older 2 kids arent my biological kids i treat them as if they were and i try to do everything i can for them. I treat them the same as I treat my daughter. The older 2 kids real father is not around for them matter of fact hes locked up and he never has done anything for them. My wife and I have been married 3 years now and I love the kids with all my heart and yes I feel bad because of the way their dad was never there for them. They even started calling me dad because they know that I will always be there for them. I would just love for all 3 of the kids to be able to have some type of Christmas. I feel so bad that this year I cant get them anything and my wife feels bad too but she has to follow the doctors orders. My wife and I dont get medicaid and we do get foodstamps but its only 148 a month for 5 people. My family lives a small town in central Pa. I work 38 hours a week, just above minimum wage. My husband has been laid off for more than a year. He can’t find a job in our area, but with only one car, he can’t look else were. He wears 12slim pants, 10-12 shirts and 5 1/2 – 6 shoes. He would love to have night vision googles. We have two dogs coper and baby-girl. My husband could use a pair of work boots 8 1/2mens. He also like camping,hunting, and fishing gear.like mose men he also likes tools. I am the easiest one I would like a gift card for Giant Eagle or Weis, so I can buy lots of grocery. Also a gift card for Walmart or Sam club, so I can get all the other stuff we need. But, most of all I just want to make my children happy. I want to see them happy on Christmas morning. Hi, I know of a single mother with two young children (3 &5) that have been struggling all year. I have done what I can to help them, when I can, but at this time of year, I cannot give as much as I’d like to. She got divorced a little over a year ago and the father is out of the picture- wanting nothing to do with his kids, and not paying a dime of child support. She is 25 years old with health problems that have affected her ability to keep a job. She does everything she can to be an amazing mother and put those two little boys first. I hate to see them struggle, as she is such a kind hearted person and the boys’ sweet personalities will melt your heart. They live in Boise, Idaho. Hello, there are so many sad stories on this site, mine will most likely get lost, but, I have to try. My husband and I have three children who live at home, Gracie is 17, Tigger is 11, and Ava is 2. We live in Illinois, and were having a good year financially until October 1st, my husband fell and tore his right quadracept muscle. He has been off work since then. I can not work, I have recurring ovarian cancer that has flared up again. My husband was an owner/operator and I ran the office part of the business in between chemo and such. We have since lost our home, and are living in our offices, but, at least we have a roof over our heads. Gracie helps out so much with the house work and the little ones. Tigger is an awesome child, he is low functioning autistic, and has such faith in Santa Claus. Ava, is just old enough to know about Christmas. We live in an economically depressed area, so all the Christmas help was gone. I just want to give my children a happy Christmas. All Tigger wants is a monster High Abbey doll. Gracie hasn’t asked for anything, she is so grown up when she shouldn’t have to be but, she loves Lord of The Rings. Ava, she loves baby dolls. Maybe if someone out there could find a way to just get one thing for my children. I know that there are others out there who are in worse shape, so maybe, after they are taken care of, you could find it in your hearts to help me give my children a Christmas. Things have been very tight with only one of us working. My fiance is in school fulltime for law enforcement and graduates in six months. I have applied with several companies including and not limited to: McDonald’s and they told me I was over qualified so I decided to go back to school to get my BA. I am married. However, my husband’s paycheck barely pays the bills and this year we had to make a decision between groceries or Christmas presents… We have three children ages 21, 19 and 11. (The 11 year old is at the age where she’d prefer clothes over toys. Unfortunately, this year without help I do not see us having a Christmas at all. I had contacted a local radio station only to be told: “Thank you for your interest. I know this is probably very much too late. But I really need someone to adopt my family. I have been unemployed for over a year and don’t have ANY means to get my 5 young children anything. We don’t even have a tree. My oven is broken down so i’m even wondering about ou r dinner plans. I feel so helpless as THE parent. My children are being real grown up about this..they are so great they deserve my all. I just want to say if this is too late for this year maybe next year I can be considered. I am disabled and can not work do to a car wreck and the boys stepmom is also disabled due to a car wreck. Hi, i am a grandmother and i have a daughter that is a single mother trying to support her daughter on her own and i have a son that has been laid off for a year and he has 2 girls and a wife. He has just went to work and barely making ends meet because he had gotten so far behind. His girls are 2 and 5 and my daughters girl is 6, they pretty much like anything. Lalaloopsy and karaoke stuff. the youngest likes things you crawl through or get into! The adults are just happy with anything or just as long as the girls have a Christmas, looks like a really slim one for everyone. I use to try and help as i could,but i am disabled and my health has gotten worst. I will just be happy to spend another Christmas with them. I love my kids and grandkids! God Bless!
Christmas is a very magical & happy time of the year,the joys of shopping to get just the right gifts,thinking about the excitement on Christmas morning when the kids open their presents.Those magical moments build a lifetime of lasting wonderful memories.The kids hope & dream & wish for weeks about what Santa will bring them & when they tear open all of those presents it makes all of the shopping so well worth it,just to see those happy smiles on your childrens little faces is amazing.For those who are blessed to be able to shop & share in that wonder & excitement it is pure magic. As the director of a charity that helps to provide Christmas to children in need I am very blessed to experience that joy & excitement in an entirely different yet still magical way that most people never get to experience. I get to hear the relief in a mother voice as she tells me in tears that no matter how hard she works she won’t be able to provide Christmas to the kids that she loves so much.She works as hard as she can just to keep a roof over their heads,food on the table & to keep the bills paid which she can barely do,there is no extra money to make Christmas dreams come true.I get to tell her that she is not alone,we can help & the tears turn into tears of joy. Today I got a call from a grandmother whose 28 year old daughter had just died from cancer & left her with 3 young children to raise,the father was killed in Iraq.She is barely getting by on her tiny social security check & can’t even afford her medication that medicare doesn’t cover.These children need & deserve that Christmas miracle so desperately but she has no way of making it happen,could you turn her way?We can help & her tears turn into happy tears. I got a call yesterday from a hospice worker who is taking care of a 26 year old mother of 3 who is a domestic violence survivor that found out she had advanced stage cancer when she was rushed to the hospital after being beat severely,it is too advanced to treat.She has no way possible of providing that Christmas miracle to her 3 children ages 2,3 & 5 & this will be her last Christmas with them,could you turn her away?that was my second hospice call this week.I have received calls from many military spouses whose husband or wife is overseas fighting or has been permanantly injured or killed in teh war,benefits take a long time to start they have very little or no income but thank GOD we are able to help.We have a little 6 year old girl who was just diagnosed with cancer,her parents had to quit their jobs to be with her & their 2 other kids during her treatment but they won’t have to worry about Christmas because we can help take that worry away. Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Christ, a time of miracles & love.Children are Gods little Angels & there are so many of them living in poverty,illness, etc all year long that barely get what they need & rarely ,if ever, get what they dream of or want.They go to school & hear the other children talk about what Santa will bring them & hwo excited they are to open all of their presents on Christmas morning,the poor child just cries.He wonders why Santa forgot him last year when he tried so hard to be good & wonders if Santa will forget him again this year.Its not just the children who cry whose hearts break on Christmas morning when they wake up to nothing,I talk to parents,grandparents,guardians etc who cry themselves to sleep every night because no matter how hard they try they know that they won’t be able to make those Christmas dreams come true,it breaks their heart when those little angels tell them what they hope Santa will bring them because they know that he wont be coming again this year.I get childrens actual Santa wish lists every year asking for Food,Warm clothes,blankets,heat,a new job for mommy or daddy,for daddy to come home from teh war,for Santa to help mommy smile,my heart BREAKS & I definately cry alot of tears. I started this charity 4 years ago to make a difference,God led me to help people my whole life & there was a need for a real true charity that would give 100% back into the community to really help,not to pay salaries & overhead with all of the donations.I have been so blessed just to be a part of peoples lives when they are in need,alone or need hope because I know that we can & will find a way to help,especially at Christmas.We receive no funding,no corporate gifts,we just count on our Faith & the tax deductible donations of Angels in our community yet we have never had to turn a family or child in need away,what a blessing!It is truelly hard work day & night for months on end trying to bring in the donations to fill every need but God sends Angels every year & we never have to let a child go without Christmas. Hi and think you to anyone taking the time to read this. I am trying to get help for my family for Christmas. We have had a rough year I was out of work since about September of this year and my husband had recently lost his job, we are in the process of being evicted from our home we have tried to go to welfare and the help office for help but we have not had any luck. Me and my husband our trying everything we can to provide for our family the best we can I just started back to work but he is still having a hard time finding a job and now I recently taken in my dad to live with us because he is disabled, his medical is helping cover for him but it is really the kids with all the bills we have who are suffering and more than anything I just want for them to be able to have a great Christmas that they deserve and hopefully a home to still live in to enjoy it also. I don’t like asking for handout or charity because I try to stay strong for my family but right now we are really in a tight and desperate situation. My husband is having a hard time due to an accident that he was in and he lost his left hand so there is a lot now he has trouble doing and a lot of jobs find that safety is an issue in allowing him to work. We tried social sec but they turned him down and said he was still able to work. If anyone can help at all with anything if not money, then possibly just something for the kids to have something to open for Christmas that would be great. I am a single mom of two boys. one is a little over a year old and the other is about to be 4. I am currently unemployed seeing how I can’t afford day care. Well, to be quite honest I can not afford anything these days. We do no have a stable place to live and have to move back and forth every week just to have a roof over there heads (even if its not theirs). I have to find the money just to be able to get their diapers and wipes or the gas to get them to a doctors appointment. There have been many nights of crying thinking I am a complete failer to my kids. They don’t know how bad things are and I would like to keep it that way. they deserve better and right now I can not give that to them. Happy Holidays to all!! My name is Crystaleigh I am a 31 year old mother and wife of a wonderful family of a 5 year old little boy Kayden and a 7 year old princess. We live in western mass area very close to the Connecticut border. To give you a little background about our family am 4 years into remission of cancer and suffer from fibromyalgia
. Because of my health situation I unfortunately live off disability. But please do think I am lazy I volunteer when ever my health permits at my children’s schools, girl scouts, and am on the school improvement council. My husband is a full time student and works as much as possible for 10.00 an hour as a line cook. He trys so hard it breaks my heart to see him so upset that he can not do more but I know that soon once he gets his BA degree in 2 years we finically much more secure, in our own house and be hopefully able to help another family like us. My beautiful daughter also suffers from severe Asthma I am not talking about a kid who uses an inhaler once a week but a little girl who is hospitalized at least five times a year get pneumonia at least 2 a winter and is scarred to play because of fear of not being able to breathe. Her lungs never fully devolved due to her being a preemie. But through all of this she is always smiling laughing ( although sadly that sometimes causes her an attack) but she is a great student and loves fashion, arts, and crafts. My Little Superhero is my 5 year old Kayden who thank the gods is happy and healthy he is the family ambassador as he try’s to say something kind to everyone and is always telling someone how nice pretty or great they are. So I from him I numerously been told I am the “best Mommy ever”. I really want to be but as it stands right now our family will be lucky to give him a action figure from “Santa” and my daughter a box of pastels she wants. I am not one to ask for anything but fuel assistance only gave $200 this year which is not even one month of heating and us living off 1700 a month total and our rent being 850 with no utility’s as you can see dos not leave any room for anything. My daughter desperately needs a warm jacket. I am very embarrassed to even ask but if anyone, family or group could help us we would be so appreciative. My name is Maria and I am married and have two children. I lost my job over the summer actually had to leave because my daughter gets very sick, she was recently diagnosed with asthma, but leading up to it I was constantly called out of work. As she gets bronchilitis which always ends up with pneumonia. She was put on a nebulizer which she has to take every for hours, two intervals one is steroids, because her lungs aren’t strong enough. (she was born a premi with water in her lungs and a multitude of problems for the next 3mths, then she was ok so we were shocked when all of this began happening, we thought we were finally in the clear) anyway the point is this whole situation made/makes it very hard for me to keep a job. So we live paycheck to paycheck. We were kicked out of our rental in march. We live with my mom while my husband works, he’s trying to get a second job but it’s been difficult. Although I am grateful to my mom, she also helps my sister and nephew a lot, who Iives here too. So as you can imagine my mom is tight on money too with so many back under her roof.
I did respond to Jackie’s post so if I recieve a response from her I will let you know not looking to get as much as possible just what we need. I’d be happy to just get the apparel.
My children are 4 & 8. Sizes 3t & 10 shoe size toddler 8 & boys 3. They both love Legos, angry birds, coloring, my son loves sketching, play-doh. My daughter is really into kitchen play-tea time. Also I’d like to see if we could get a good pair of thermals for my husband size L, he works outside so it would be a great help for him. He also has no winter coat. He’d prefer the thermals because he has a work coat which he wears everywhere else too because we can’t afford to buy him another. My son desperately needs a winter coat as he wears a fleece pull over and a lightweight jacket at the moment. As his “coat”. Both kids need snow boots and snowsuits.

WE WON’T BE ABLE TO GIVE OUR CHILDREN A NICE CHRISTMAS. MY CHILDREN ARE SO UNDERSTANDING. WE HAD INFORMED THEM THAT THIS YR WE ARE NOT ABLE TO GET THEM ANY GIFTS AND THAT AS SOON AS MOMMY AND STEP-DADDY GET STABLE WITH THE MONEY THAT WE ARE GOING TO GET THEM THE GIFTS. MY 2 OLDEST SAID “IT’S OK MOMMY AND DADDY JOEL”. SO I TRULY HOPE THERE IS SOMEONE OUT THERE THAT ARE WILLING TO ADOPT MY KIDS NOT THE WHOLE FAMILY. I’M JUST ASKING FOR MY KIDS. My family needs help, we just combined 3 generations… My Father, my husband, my youngest sister and her boyfriend, their son, her son, and his daughters, and we have had a trying new move. and trials to get his daughters here. and my sisters eldest is 16. and their baby only 2. we have no tree. I work real hard and I have only minimal hours. I could really use some help with 4 children’s Christmas. the adults are doing what we can… I just need a tree and 1 gift each, or not, especially my husband who just suffered his second back surgery and cannot stand sit or lay for too long. I am sad to bother you folks with this although my need persists.. I would implore you to see our need and help with the tree with some lights that would suit us and be just right.
